I'd love to see an Edwards-Obama ticket in 2008. The Republican Party's only response to them has been to call Edwards a nasty name and to remind bigots that Obama's middle name is Hussein. If that's the extent of the Republican response to these two, I say team 'em up and bring 'em on.

Vote Faggot/Hussein in '08

Technically, the Republican Party has not called Edwards a faggot. That was Ann Coulter who is not an official spokesperson of the party.
You're right! It's official Republican policy to call him Breck Girl.
My bad!
Ann may not be the official spokewoman of the RNC, but she is certainly the unofficial spokeswoman of the Conservative movement.
Otherwise, why would she be the most invited person on conservative talk shows?
Watch the YouTube clip of Asshole Annie doing some of her best work. Seems just as many Republicans present were clapping and jeering as were booing her remark. Caught up in the hate of the moment they were I guess:

As a mostly conservative stooge, I read far more stuff from the right than the left and I've seen some pretty amazing reports of lefty bloggers using the word "faggot" in the last few years. Please don't misunderstand me, I am not saying this makes permissible Coulter's use of the word, but I really do wonder why there was so little hysteria in any of those cases. I can supply links upon request.
You're comparing big apples with little, little tiny apples.
Ann Coulter is a best-selling author, TV chat show mainstay, talking head, and was addressing a big-deal Republican establishment function that attracted some of the biggest names in the party. She's not some no-name blogger.
Incidentally, I'm not offended or hysterical at Ann Coulter. I think that her calling Edwards a faggot and the crowd's response are good things. It outs the Republican Party's most loyal operatives as petty, childish bigots.
By calling Edwards a faggot, she was directly stating what Republican strategy constantly tries to imply about Democratic candidates -- that they're less-than-men. "Those guys are fags" has essentially been the Republican Party's main criticism of Democrats since 9/11. Faggot is just 2007's iteration of calling Edwards "The Breck Girl". He has hair. He combs it! My God, what a fucking fag! Vote for Dubya!
That a bunch of bloggers, left-or-right, say faggot or dyke or faggyfaggydykefagfuckfuck is of no interest to me.
It don't really feel like it's my responsibility to patrol blogs for comments I dislike. I'd never get anything else done.
I think a reasonable translation of your response is: crude hateful language is not a problem if it is used by small time lefty bloggers. DailyKos, though, doesn't really seem to fit that definition, well not the small time part anyway. Anyway, thanks for your response. I still contend, though, if it's wrong to use that language it's wrong no matter who uses it.
Actually, that's a completely incorrect translation. Fortunately, our comments are side-by-side so readers can compare.
Post some of the links here. I'm curious to see them.
Here's one from Pandagon; I think that's the blogger John Edwards hired. You have to admit, that's pretty funny.

Well, you don't have to. But you ought to.
Let me see if I can help here...
both sides seems to be saying, "Oh yeah, well your side says faggot too."
The difference is Republicans point to anonymous postings on liberal blogs to show how "hateful" leftys are while Democrats can point to a highly sought-after, much published and seemingly respected commentator who was using hate speech to a cheering crowd of REPUBLICANS!
Esteban, if you can't see the difference, it's because you choose not to.
That's your example? Seriously?
Matt - Amanda Marcotte (Pandagon) is not an anonymous person. She's a pretty high profile blogger hired by Edwards campaign, then let go when she seemed to be more of a liability than an assett.
Nevermind that Ann Coulter giving a speech at CPAC and Amanda Marcotte aren't really comparable -- the usage you cite is of Marcotte using the word "faggoty" ironically to mock people who think that kindness and being gentle are somehow less-than-manly.
Give me one, just one, example of a high-profile, speech-giving, column-publishing Democrat (or liberal or progressive or whatever the hell you want to call it) calling a presidential candiaite from the other party a "faggot."
Do it.
You can't becuase it doesn't happen. In any case, please tell Coulter to keep doing it. Only continues to alientate moderates anyway.
esteben, i just wandered over to drudge and this is the headline i saw:
Coulter-Bashing Sites Use 'F' Word, Too-Without Inciting Outrage...
You people are like robots.
"Give me one, just one, example of a high-profile, speech-giving, column-publishing Democrat (or liberal or progressive or whatever the hell you want to call it) calling a presidential candiaite from the other party a "faggot." "
How about an elected Democrat state senator calling a Republican colleague a "faggot?" The fact that the Republican isn't a candidate for US President is really way beside the point.

Andisheh - I just wandered over to Huffington Post and saw headlines savaging Coulter for her language.
You people are like robots.
Again, just to be clear....Coulter is wrong, wrong, wrong to use the language she did. But I really do think the same standards should apply to all.
Where was my blog post savaging Ann Coulter for her language? I must have missed that.
Would you faggots please stop arguing?
Can we please use a term other than faggot? How about butt pirate, pole smoker, turd burglar, fudge packer, peter puffer, sausage smuggler. You know, something less offensive?
